Thanks to generous donors, Saint Paul University is able to offer scholarships to students of various disciplines. Most scholarships awarded are credited directly to the student account by the Financial Services to cover tuition fees, ancillary fees and incidental fees.

The Adanac Circle of the King’s Daughters and Sons Bursary

The purpose of this award is to provide support to adult lay persons who are active in the Christian Church Ministry to enhance their capability of doing that ministry. Applicants should clearly demonstrate their current level of activity in the Christian Church, and how the funds would benefit them and help them to increase their level of engagement.

The King’s Daughters and Sons, a Christian organization, has many levels of participation. The Adanac Circle (Canada spelled backwards) is at the first level of the organization and started its activities in 1968. The Adanac Circle has seen many devoted members over the years. In 2004, this fund was created by its members to honour all Adanac Circle members who have passed away.

Élisabeth Jeannine Lacelle Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to female francophone or bilingual students who achieve academic excellence. The award is available to students of all faculties.

Born in Hawkesbury, Ontario, Élisabeth Jeannine Lacelle was the first woman to graduate from the Faculty of Theology at Saint Paul University, in 1967. Her studies of women and religion, notably Christianity, have made her a much sought after guest speaker and resource person in Europe and the United States, as well as throughout Canada.

The Jane Younger Memorial Award

This award was created in memory of Jane Younger, who had a long and successful career in nursing and extensive involvement in pastoral ministries. Jane was deeply committed to the welfare of others, and her contributions were honoured by her induction into the Order of Saint John.

The award is available for Indigenous students studying full-time, or about to begin full-time studies, at Saint Paul University. Applicants must have demonstrated a passion for contributing towards positive change in their community. Applicants must also show evidence of academic success.

Mgr. H. Belleau Scholarship

The Oblates of Mary Immaculate administer a scholarship fund for the Mgr. H. Belleau Foundation. These scholarships are awarded to priests or candidates to the priesthood, nuns or pastoral agents from developing countries who are pursuing their studies at Saint Paul University and who confirm that they are returning home after their studies.

The Thomas G. Feeney Q.C. Award for Aging and Community

This award is available to students enrolled on a full-time basis in graduate studies (master’s or doctorate) at Saint Paul University who are conducting original research that explores issues related to aging and community.

This award is offered by the Saint Paul University Centre for Aging and Community. It was established in honour of Thomas G. Feeney Q.C., Founding Dean of the Common Law Section of the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa. Dean Feeney is known for his scholarly works, in particular for his Canadian Law of Wills. His commitment to building excellence in law and service to the public inspires research practices in the field of aging that ultimately serve the public good.

  • How to apply: Send an application to the Dean of the Faculty of Human Sciences. Application must include a CV, transcripts and a one-page description of the research project, which should demonstrate a connection with the Centre’s intention and purpose, and the objectives of this award.

This award is based on the relevance and strength of the research project on a topic of aging and community. Applicants must provide proof of their ability to conduct research that relies on practical knowledge and supports community engagement; their ability to communicate (both oral and written). The recipients are expected to present their research to the general public through an activity sponsored by the Centre.

The Hervé Casault Scholarship

This scholarship is available to immigrant women recently arrived in Canada (in the last 10 years), demonstrating academic excellence, financial need and a career focused on francophone community development.

This scholarship was created in memory of Mr. Hervé Casault, a great champion of francophone causes in Ontario, former teacher and community leader, who always wanted to help the francophone immigrant community of Ottawa to integrate well and flourish.

The Maharaj Family Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to international students, from all academic disciplines, with a preference for students living with a disability as well as students involved in volunteer work. For your application to be considered, you must be enrolled as a full-time student during the current winter and upcoming fall terms.

Canon Law

Canadian Canon Law Society Bursary

This bursary is available to a student, enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Canon Law, who demonstrates financial need and good academic standing. Recipient is determined by the Society Scholarship Committee.

This admission scholarships will be given to a student in the Canon Law program, with a preference for Indigenous learners, first-generation students and international students from developing countries.

This bursary is available to candidates for the priesthood or priests who want to complete their training in Canon Law. Recipients are determined by the Dean of the Faculty of Canon Law and the Rector of the University.

Theology

The Reverend Clayton Vaughan Bursary

This bursary is awarded to postulants of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa enrolled in the Anglican Studies program in the Faculty of Theology. The award is based on financial need. Preference is given to candidates for ordination. The award is presented by the Director of Anglican Studies.

Achiel Peelman Bursary

This bursary was created in honour of the Peelman family and in recognition of Professor Achiel Peelman, OMI, of Saint Paul University. It is available to students of academic merit wishing to enroll or who are enrolled in doctoral programs at the Faculty of Theology. Special consideration will be given to applicants doing research in the field of theology and Indigenous Peoples, which was Profeesor Peelman’s main area of scholarship.

Jean-Guy LeMarier, OMY, Bursary

This bursary is awarded to students of ethics or moral theology in the Faculty of Theology. There are two components to the award: one merit-based and one based on financial need.

St. Peter’s Province Scholarship for Studies in Christian Spirituality

This scholarship is a merit-based scholarship for full-time undergraduate students registered in three- or four-year programs. The award recognizes academic excellence in the area of Christian Spirituality.

Conflict Studies

The Redekop-Kroeker Family Scholarship

This scholarship is available to students enrolled or wishing to enroll full-time in the Master’s in Conflict Studies program, research paper or thesis option.

This scholarship is awarded based on academic excellence, as demonstrated by transcripts and by awards and distinctions received; the ability to conduct research (analytical ability, critical thinking, proven ability to put into practice knowledge and skills, proof of originality and independence); the ability to complete a project within a reasonable period of time; the relevance of the research project to the priority themes of the scholarship; the ability to communicate, including writing; a demonstrated commitment to community service and other related activities.

  • The Selection Committee will consist of three professors chosen by the School of Conflict Studies.

Many communities and families are wracked by conflict, which manifests itself as physical and lateral violence. Sometimes conflicts have a long history of enmity and difficulty in communication. Bill and Loreen (Kroeker) Redekop have devoted their lives to community service, positively affecting the lives of young people and adults. They have been attuned to the matters of social justice and the promotion of good relations among community members, building bridges across long-standing barriers.

To promote the dignity and inalienable rights of the human person as the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world, the Redekop-Kroeker Scholarship in Conflict Studies supports the work focusing on an aspect of the resolution and prevention of conflicts. The priority themes of the bursary are peace practices, gender studies, children in war and conflict situations, international humanitarian law, and social justice.

Counselling and Spirituality

Bourse Ottawa City Union de l’Ordre international King’s Daughters and Sons (KDS)

The Ottawa City Union of the International Order of the King’s Daughters and Sons Scholarship (KDS)

This scholarship is available to students in the master’s and doctoral programs of Counselling and Spirituality. Applicants must have a profile and a potential for service that is consistent with the focus of the KDS: to lend a hand in service to others as taken from Mark 10:45, “Not to be ministered unto, but to minister.”

  • Period of Study: Available in the second term of the master’s or doctoral program of Counselling and Spirituality.
