SPU Professors Launch the Interdisciplinary Research Lab on Trauma

News

Saint Paul University is proud to announce the creation of the Interdisciplinary Research Lab on Trauma (IRLT), a research group dedicated to the multi-faceted exploration of the systemic causes of trauma, its impact on individuals and communities, and best practices for healing and building resilience.

To address the complex nature of trauma, the IRLT brings together nine researchers from a range of disciplines, including conflict studies, transformative leadership, counselling, and social innovation.

“The interdisciplinary approach is essential to our research on trauma and resilience,” explains Bianca Briciu, Associate Professor in the School of Leadership, Ecology and Equity and founding member of the IRLT. “By putting diverse disciplines in dialogue, we can gain a better understanding of the interconnected and dynamic nature of the human experience.”

Beyond its work within the University, the IRLT aims to foster a larger community of research by building national and international research networks, expanding partnerships and funding opportunities, and supporting the next generation of researchers.

“Our goal with the Lab is to create a space for collaboration and innovation where we can work together to develop integrated approaches for healing and positive transformation at the individual, relational and systemic levels,” shared Professor Briciu.
