Dr. Iva Apostolova is not new to Saint Paul University. She started her academic career here while finishing her PhD in Philosophy at University of Ottawa. She then went on to become a tenured faculty member at Dominican University College, the last three years of which she occupied the role of Vice-President Academic. In July 2023, she returned to Saint Paul University to serve as the Interim Vice-Rector Academic and Research. She accepted the role of Associate Vice-Rector Research and Innovation in September 2024.
Dr. Apostolova has served on hiring and tenure evaluation committees in other institutions. She is also an active member of research ethics boards and has experience with the tri-agency research grants committees.
She is an active researcher with expertise in the field of Analytic Philosophy, especially the philosophy of Bertrand Russell, philosophy of mind, philosophy of memory, feminist thought, and ethics of care. She has published with Oxford University Press, Bioethics, The Journal of Bertrand Russell Studies, Feminist Philosophy Quarterly, among others. She is currently under contract for a monograph on consciousness, memory, touch, and AI.
