News

OTTAWA, Thursday, April 18, 2024 – On Tuesday, April 16, members of the community gathered to celebrate the official installation of Dr. Louis Patrick Leroux as Rector of Saint Paul University.

The ceremony was held in the University’s De Mazenod chapel and was attended by SPU students, alumni, professor, staff and the Board of Governors – as well as distinguished guests from academic institutions and the broader Ottawa community.

Dr. Leroux took his oath as Rector during the ceremony, which included a mass presided by the Most Reverend Marcel Damphouse, the Archbishop of Ottawa-Cornwall and Chancellor of the university.

“Thank you for allowing me this privileged companionship along the road we are walking together. I am happy, dear friends, to be working with you to advance the University through our collective efforts, will and passion,” shared Dr. Leroux as he addressed the gathering.

In his address, Dr. Leroux also emphasized his commitment to promoting all that the University has to offer and shared his vision for the future of the institution: “There is so much potential here for smart, focused growth in our signature disciplines and fields of expertise. I intend to listen to the aspirations of all members of the Saint Paul University community… My arrival also coincides with preparations for the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan, so we’ll have plenty of opportunity to talk over the coming months and dream together about what we’re going to achieve!”

The installation concluded with a reception, which provided guests with the opportunity to personally meet Dr. Leroux.
