Introduction

The Board of Governors sets all Saint Paul University fees and reserves the right to modify the fees and the regulations governing refunds without advance notice.

Students who are officially registered at Saint Paul University must pay tuition fees before the last day to pay tuition fees or as soon as their course selection is approved (late-registration fees may apply). Dates are published in the University calendar. The reimbursement of tuition fees depends on the official date of withdrawal as registered on the student’s file.

E-invoice

Your invoice is available in electronic format only. As soon as you register, you will receive an email in your uOttawa and personal email accounts with uoCampus account access details.

Students are responsible for paying their tuition fees within the prescribed timelines.

Payment Dates

Tuition is payable by the last day to pay tuition fees, or as soon as course selection is approved.

The suggested method of payment is by Internet through your financial institution. If you use another payment method, pay your tuition at least a week before the due date in order for it to be processed before that date.

Registration and modifications completed after the deadline dates to pay fees

Registration or modification to the registration completed after the deadline dates for registration will generate additional fees that must be paid immediately. Log on to your uoCampus account to view your new balance.

Special Students

To avoid late-payment penalty and interest, your tuition fees must be paid by payment deadlines. Students who have not paid their fees for a previous term will not be allowed to register.

Late Payments

Students are required to pay their tuition fees before the prescribed deadline or upon registration. Late-payment fees will apply if you register after the deadline dates.

You remain responsible for paying your tuition fees before the deadline or upon registration. Log on to your uoCampus account to view your balance.

Late-payment penalties will not be cancelled simply because you have not received an invoice.

Reminder: All invoices must be paid before the prescribed deadline dates.

If payment is not received on time, a late-payment penalty of $60 plus interest (10% annually) will be added automatically to your account.

Other Payments: Payments must be made by the indicated deadline. Any payment received after this date will automatically incur a $60 penalty, plus interest (10% annual rate). Please refer to the invoices provided by Saint Paul University for details and exact due dates.

The University is not responsible for delays beyond its control.

Important: If your account is not paid in full before the next session, it will be deactivated and you will not be able to register for the following session or go to classes (regulation ASA-410 on Student Debtor) until the situation is resolved.  If you are in Canada on a student permit, you will need to understand that your situation is precarious and you might be contravening Canadian immigration law.

Exemptions

To confirm eligibility of exemption from University fees, students must fill out the necessary documents at Human Resources GIG – 1102B at the time of registration.

Returned Cheques

If the bank returns a student’s cheque, an administrative fee is added to the student’s account in addition to a late payment fee and interest of 10% annually.

Delinquent Accounts

Any fees owed to Saint Paul University will incur consequences, such as denied registration for the following semester, denied participation in graduation ceremonies, and/or denied acquisition of academic documents such as a diploma, transcript, letter of permission or any official attestation, until the account is paid in full. This policy applies even if the student has declared bankruptcy under the Bankruptcy Act, and equally concerns tuition fees and all other charges exacted by any University service: for example, libraries, parking services, etc.

Refunds

The course change or withdrawal must be registered in your student file by the deadline for course changes or withdrawal indicated in Important dates and deadlines.

Requests for reimbursement may incur administrative costs.

If a modification to your course selection results in a credit in your student account, the amount will be automatically transferred to the next semester.

If you have paid Saint Paul University in error, please contact your bank for a return of funds.

If you have graduated, please use the following link to log on to your uoCampus account to retrieve your tax forms.

T4A

You receive a T4A slip if you received awards, scholarships or bursaries from Saint Paul University during the fiscal year. The slips are available through uoCampus under the Income Tax Forms tab at the end of February.

For more information, visit the Canada Revenue Agency website.

T2202

Print your form through uoCampus, under the Income Tax Forms link in the self-service / campus finance / account inquiry. The form is available in February. You don’t have to include this form with your income tax – you submit it only if the government asks for it later on.

Remember that the T2202 isn’t an official receipt, but rather a confirmation of the deductible fees for a given fiscal year. Only the fees you have actually paid appear on your T2202.

For more information on your income tax return, visit the Canada Revenue Agency website.

(Note the official name change of the form from T2202A to T2202 starting in the 2019 taxation year.)

RL-8 slip (Relevé 8) (Quebec residents)

The RL-8 slip is a tax form of the Ministère du Revenu du Québec and is intended for Quebec residents. A credit for full-time post-secondary studies is determined on the basis of the number of sessions that the student started in the year and completed. The amount is to be claimed in the income tax return of the person claiming the student as a dependent (generally the student’s parent). This amount does not constitute tuition fees.

RL-8 slips are issued by the Ministère du Revenu du Québec and are intended for Quebec residents. Print your slip through uoCampus, under the Income Tax Forms link. RL-8 slips are available by the end of February.

Grace Periods for Financial Aid Students

Students who have applied for government financial aid can take advantage of a grace period under certain conditions, depending on their province of origin.

Ontario

If you have requested and are waiting for financial aid from the Government of Ontario and will not be able to pay tuition fees by the due date, you can be granted a grace period until October 7, for the Fall semester and February 17, for the Winter semester, without late charges or interest fees, if you contact Financial Aid by phone at 613-236-1393 ext. 2295 or by email at financialaid@ustpaul.ca.

Should your tuition fees still remain unpaid after these extension dates, a late-payment penalty and incurred interest will apply. They will not be cancelled simply because you have not received your government loan or bursary. The University cannot be held accountable for delays that are beyond its control.

Other provinces

If you have requested and are waiting for financial aid from a province other than Ontario and will not be able to pay tuition fees by the due date, you may be granted a grace period until October 7, for the Fall semester and February 17, for the Winter semester, without late charges or interest fees if you contact Financial Aid by phone at 613-236-1393 ext. 2295 or by email at financialaid@ustpaul.ca.
