Choosing a study program

Is it possible to talk to an academic advisor to find out which program is best suited to my interests?

Once you’ve been accepted into a program, you can meet and make an appointment with your academic advisor.

How do I determine the length of my program of interest? (B.A., Graduate Diploma, M.A., PhD)?

Program duration varies from one program to another. We recommend that you check the program page under the “General Information” tab.

Which programs are available online?

The vast majority of our programs are offered in person, although some courses may be offered online. In addition, some programs are offered in a hybrid format.

We invite you to consult our programs page for the most up-to-date information on delivery methods. You can also consult our course schedule for the latest information on availability and terms and conditions for each course.

How many courses should I plan to take at the undergraduate or graduate level?

At SPU, one course is equivalent to 3 credits.

Undergraduate programs:

A bachelor’s degree program can be completed full-time (4-5 courses) or part-time (1-3 courses) per term.

Graduate programs:

At the graduate level, the number of courses per term varies from program to program, depending on whether the program is completed on a full-time or part-time basis.

How do I know if my program or courses are offered online, in person, during the day or in the evening?

The vast majority of our programs are offered in person. However, some courses may be offered online.

About admission requirements

Can I get equivalent transfer credits?

Applicants from other Canadian or international universities will be evaluated on the basis of their previous secondary and/or post-secondary education. University equivalencies may be granted depending on the studies completed and the program to which the applicant has been admitted.

Submitting your application

How long does it take to process an application?

Processing an application can take up to 4-8 weeks. Processing time depends on the time of year and the number of applications received. If you have any questions about your application, please send an e-mail to admission@ustpaul.ca.

I can't send all my documents and statements through the online form. What should I do?

If you have several documents to submit and are running out of space, please submit them (in PDF format) directly to the admissions office: admission@ustpaul.ca and be sure to include your full name and application number.

However, if you submit all your documents at the time of application, your application may be processed more quickly.

What are the application deadlines for my program?

Please note that application deadlines may vary from program to program, and that Saint Paul University reserves the right to change these dates without prior notice.

Can I apply in person?

It is only possible to apply by using the online application form.

How long are my letters of recommendation valid?

Letters of recommendation remain valid for a maximum of two years after submission to the admissions office.

General questions

How do articulation agreements (college credit transfer agreements) work?

At SPU, we have several articulation agreements with colleges and CEGEPs. Once you have completed your college program, you have the option of continuing your studies in one of our undergraduate programs, and some of the credits you’ve earned will be applicable to the requirements of the university program you choose.

Candidates can benefit from a maximum of 60 transfer credits. For more information, please refer to our page on articulation agreements.
