OTTAWA, September 28, 2022 — Saint Paul University is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Secretary General, Carole Breton, MBA.
Ms. Breton, who will assume her position on Monday, November 7, 2022, brings 30 years of professional experience in government relations, partnership development, issues management, strategic communications, and governance.
Her professional career spans the Canada Council for the Arts, CBC/Radio-Canada, the Association des collèges et des universités de la francophonie canadienne (ACUFC), and the University of Ottawa.
She studied broadcasting (La Cité) and holds an Executive MBA from the Telfer School of Management (University of Ottawa).
“Ms. Breton’s career path demonstrates her commitment to managing large-scale projects and high-performance teams in a constantly evolving and bilingual environment,” said Chantal Beauvais, Rector of Saint Paul University. “Through her inclusive and constructive leadership, she will contribute to the advancement of the files entrusted to her, while ensuring a rigorous and collaborative management approach. Furthermore, with her widespread and diverse professional experiences, Ms. Breton brings a fresh perspective to our University’s management team.”
The Rector added: “I would like to thank Michael McLellan, who served as interim Secretary General, for his excellent service. I look forward to continuing to work with him in his role as Chief of Staff.”
As Secretary General, Ms. Breton will have primary responsibility for the governance of Saint Paul University. She will be responsible for the secretarial services required for the proper functioning of the Senate and the Board of Governors and their various committees. She will also be responsible for the Indigenous Centre, the Pastoral Services, and the Alumni and Development Office.
