Press releases

Dear colleagues,

I am pleased to inform you of Dr. Iva Apostolova’s interim (1-year) tenure as Vice-Rector Academic and Research. She will start working in that capacity on July 4th 2023 for a duration of 1 year while Dr. Jean-Marc Barrette will be on administrative leave.

Dr. Iva Apostolova has previously served as Vice-President Academic Affairs at Dominican University College here in Ottawa, where she was also Associate Professor in the Faculty of Philosophy. She is well known in the Ottawa academic scene as she completed her PhD in Philosophy from University of Ottawa and has taught in different capacities at all four universities in town. As a matter of fact, one of the first courses she taught was in the Faculty of Philosophy at Saint Paul University where she remained as a professor until her tenure at Dominican University College.

Dr. Apostolova is a philosopher specializing in the History of Analytic Philosophy, particularly Bertrand Russell’s philosophy, Epistemology, Philosophy of Mind (including Philosophy of Memory and Philosophy of AI), and Feminist Thought (including Feminist Ethics).

“I am truly honored to have the opportunity to serve the academic community as the Interim Vice-Rector Academic and Research at Saint Paul University. This appointment is, in many ways, coming a full circle for me as I started my academic career at SPU,” said Apostolova.

Welcome, Iva!
