Krys Maki
Profil
Krys Maki est professeur adjoint à l’École d’innovation sociale Élisabeth-Bruyère. Ses domaines de recherche incluent les mouvements féministes, l’organisation collective autour de la violence basée sur le genre, la pauvreté et l’inégalité sociale, et les études de surveillance critique. Avant de se joindre à l’École d’innovation sociale de l’Université Saint-Paul, iel a obtenu une bourse postdoctorale du CRSH à l’Institut d’études féministes et de genre de l’Université d’Ottawa sur l’organisation du travail et la création de mouvements dans les refuges pour femmes. En 2021, iel a publié leur premier livre Ineligible: Single Mothers Under Welfare Surveillance chez Fernwood Publishing. En dehors du milieu universitaire, Krys a travaillé en tant que directeur de la recherche et des politiques à Hébergement Femmes Canada, un réseau national à but non lucratif de refuges pour femmes victimes de violence (2017-2022). Leur militantisme universitaire est profondément influencé par leur travail d’organisatrice et d’activiste de longue date au sein des mouvements syndicaux, anti-pauvreté et féministes.
Les recherches actuelles du Dr Maki portent sur le travail et le bien-être des travailleurs dans les organisations de lutte contre la violence fondée sur le genre et sur la façon dont les travailleurs et les dirigeants transforment leur travail et le secteur. Iel est membre du Comité consultatif national sur le bien-être des travailleurs dans les organisations de lutte contre la violence fondée sur le sexe de l’Association canadienne pour l’élimination de la violence, qui élabore une stratégie nationale sur la main-d’œuvre.
Iel supervisent une boursière postdoctorale Mitacs Accelerate, « Évaluer l’impact des pratiques de financement fédérales sur les communautés desservies par les organismes sans but lucratif » (2024-2026). En collaboration avec Imagine Canada, la boursière postdoctorale dirigera l’étude de recherche et élaborera plusieurs études de cas sur les organismes de bienfaisance et les organismes sans but lucratif qui reçoivent des fonds de différents programmes fédéraux.
