The Program begins on Monday, July 27th at 8 a.m. and ends on Friday, July 31 at 2 p.m. Holding faith and culture, the program begins with two days on the land at Camp Naategamaa (Fitzroy Harbour) for experiences and teachings of traditional ceremonies. Participants will be bussed to the land and return to the University campus for dinner. These two days are followed by three days on the Saint Paul University campus in Ottawa. Throughout the week, participants explore connections between Indigenous spiritualities and Christian faith through ceremony, teachings, and conversation. Topics include faith and culture, community and church life, the Bible, and leading the community prayers. Certificates of attestation are given to participants who complete the week-long program.
Participants can also apply for 3 university undergrad credits. In addition to the practical and on the land experience, the participant of the credit option will further their learning through readings and exercises. The credit option will start online June 22 and finish on August 10, 2020. Participants must be present in Ottawa for the onsite week of July 27 to July 31, 2020.
This credited course could be of interest for people who are pursuing studies in various fields including ministry, human relations, pastoral care, community engagement, leadership.
It is not necessary to be a current student to register. Students from other post-secondary institutions are welcomed. Students not currently enrolled at Saint Paul University will need to register as a special student.
