In December 2015, Mitis Iudex Dominus Iesus and Mitis et Misericors Iesus came into effect, enacting the most substantial revision to the matrimonial nullity process in the modern era. The law has been a great tool to simplify the investigation into a declaration of nullity, but it has also resulted in some unique (and perhaps unforeseen) challenges in both the ordinary and brevore forms of investigation. Fr. Alexander Laschuk will discuss some of these issues, especially as he has encountered them implementing these documents at the Toronto Regional Tribunal, Canada's largest first instance matrimonial tribunal.
