Evening-Conference: What is the Significance of the Book of Revelation?

Presenter: Andrea Spatafora, MSF, is a priest of the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Holy Family. He has been a professor in the Faculty of Theology at Saint Paul University since 1997, and was dean from 2008 to 2014. He obtained a Master of Arts in Theology at Saint Paul University in 1988 and a license in Sacred Scripture at the Pontifical Biblical Institute (Rome) in 1992. His doctoral thesis, obtained at the Pontifical Gregorian University (Rome), is entitled “From the ‘Temple of God’ to God as the Temple: A Biblical Theological Study of the Temple in the Book of Revelation.” Fr. Spatafora has published a book, Symbolic Language and the Apocalypse (Novalis, 2008), and several articles. His field of research includes the Book of Revelation and canonical criticism.

Description: For most readers, the Book of Revelation, also known as the Apocalypse, is filled with fearsome images that speak of judgment and punishment. Although there are some disconcerting images in the book, the Apocalypse is in facta proclamation of the Good News that God has triumphed over evil and has accomplished his plan of salvation for his people. This webinar will focus on the nature of the symbols of the Apocalypse and their message of hope and salvation.
