Carol Kuzmochka est une théologienne pratique spécialisée dans l'éducation religieuse des adultes (catéchèse) et le leadership pastoral. Elle possède une expertise dans l'apprentissage et la formation intégrale des adultes, l'éducation et le leadership transformatifs, la pratique réflexive et la facilitation des processus transformatifs, la dynamique de groupe ainsi que dans la spiritualité du leadership. Se joint à ceci une grande expérience en recherche qualitative. Carol détient un baccalauréat ès arts de l'Université de Dalhousie (Halifax), une Maîtrise en éducation religieuse et un Doctorat en théologie pratique de l'Université Saint-Paul (Ottawa). En plus de ces réalisations universitaires, elle a obtenu un certificat en facilitation de processus transformatif sous la direction de Marge Denis.
Carol est professeure à l’École Providence de leadership transformatif et spiritualité ainsi que directrice et chercheuse principale du Centre d’éducation religieuse et de catéchèse (CREC), où elle conçoit et dirige un projet de recherche-action axé sur la sensibilisation à la recherche de pratiques transformatrices dans le domaine de l'éducation et de l’accompagnement à la foi des adultes.
Le CREC offre également un large éventail de plateformes de partage des connaissances pour les praticiens canadiens. Carol possède une vaste expérience pratique sur le terrain en tant que directrice de l'éducation religieuse des adultes pour les secteurs anglais du diocèse de Timmins (1994 - 2002) et de l'archidiocèse d'Ottawa (2002 - 2006). Elle a été directrice du Centre de leadership pastoral et de spiritualité de l'Université Saint-Paul de 2006 à 2012 et elle poursuit une longue carrière d'enseignante très respectée en donnant un large éventail de cours à l'Université Saint-Paul depuis 2006.

The structures of the religious community and their functioning: especially in reference to authority, interaction, freedom, and growth. Study of the needs, hopes, aspirations of the religious community and society at large, and the resources, (material and personnel), obstacles, etc. in order to answer to these.

Research methodologies and their application to the study of the context and practice of ministry. Understanding and planning the research process. Qualitative, quantitative, and action-based methods in data gathering and analysis. The use of social-scientific methods in theology. Research ethics, especially as it pertains to research with human subjects.

IPA 5134 - Spirituality, Counselling and Psychotherapy
Space for reflection, deepening and integration of various perspectives, with particular attention to the spiritual dimension of the practice of psychotherapy, and that of the psychotherapist. Examination of various spiritual paradigms so as to identify certain points of convergence that are useful for understanding the issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion, an approach to reflection on practice is proposed, to support and promote the professional development of the psychotherapist and the safe and effective use of self. Presentation of psychospiritual models of intervention for the purpose of providing clinical and practical approaches.

HUM 5122 - Collaborative Leadership and Group Dynamics (3u)
Theoretical perspectives of group dynamics related to the practice of collaborative leadership and the development of skills for group facilitation and team leadership (including interpersonal communication and conflict resolution). Various methods, learning styles, growth processes and approaches explored for a variety of contexts.

IPA 4481 - Practicum in Ministry and Service I
Students are engaged in the practice of ministry while working under supervision in a local church or other ministry setting (5 hours per week). The student is introduced to theological, sociological, and psychological theories in order to become a reflective practitioner in context. The student will become familiar with basic resources for intentional practice: creation of a pastoral profile; learning contracts; disciplined individual and group reflection; supervisory relationships; introduction to professional ethics. Cognitive, behavioural, motivational, and emotional components are related to individual, social, and interpersonal life.

Interaction between theology and psychology with reference to pastoral ministry, the experience of the believer, the development of faith and of religious attitudes. The pastoral implications of psychological theories of the individual and his/her social relations: impact on cognitive processes, emotion, behaviour, competence, values. Psychological perspectives on the pastoral minister's practice, role and identity.

IPA 3126 - The Spiritual Dimensions of Leadership and Group Facilitation
Deepening of one's conception of spirituality and presentation of various guiding methods adapted to personal development groups: self-training, support group meetings, life experience analysis and planned action. Community cooperation and psychosocial basics are addressed.

IPA 1123 - Introduction to Group Dynamics
This course initiates participants to the group phenomenon and to different fundamental concepts, such as group typology, elements of group dynamics, as well as conditions and factors that are part of interpersonal and group communication. Participants learn to be aware of the quality of their participation and to develop their capacity to observe and to interact.
