Two Saint Paul University students compete at the 20th Jeux de la communication
Tracy-Ann Gagnon and Joël Fitzgerald participated within the uOttawa delegation in the 20th edition of the Jeux de la communication, held March 2 to 5 at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM).
Both students are enrolled in SPU’s Social Communication program. They participated in two events, Tracy-Ann in the Radio event and Joël in the Vitrine culturelle (cultural showcase). They’ve been preparing since last October, and they really outdid themselves at this intense inter-university competition, both professionally and personally.
“I loved participating in the JDLC, because the event gave me an opportunity to put my skills into practice and push my limits in a field I enjoy. Our experience there was an important complement to our academic career,” said Tracy-Ann.
The competition is adjudicated by communication professionals, and Tracy-Ann and Joël returned to SPU with an honourable mention in the Vitrine culturelle category.
“The community spirit was amazing,” reported Joël. “I wasn’t expecting such an emotionally engaging experience, and I’m proud to have been a part of it. I would encourage every student to participate in the Jeux, because Saint Paul University has a really solid communication program and the competition is a great way to acquire experience before you enter the job market.”
The two students returned with their heads held high, and filled with wonderful memories!
