The Faculty of Theology Welcomes Dr. Sarah Kathleen Johnson as New Professor of Liturgy and Pastoral Theology

Saint Paul University is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Sarah Kathleen Johnson as a Professor of Liturgy and Pastoral Theology with the Faculty of Theology.

In her new role, Dr. Johnson will direct the Master of Divinity and Master of Theological Studies as well as oversee the Faculty’s Anglican Studies programs, including the Master of Divinity and Master of Theological Studies.

Dr. Johnson is a practical theologian who is affiliated with Mennonite Church Canada. Her research explores Christian worship in the context of North America’s changing religious landscape, with a particular focus on the intersections of liturgy and ethics. In her research, teaching and pastoral practice, she is committed to engaging ecumenically across Christian traditions.

“Professor Johnson’s passion for and commitment to high quality interdisciplinary and socially engaged scholarship, excellence in teaching, and ecumenical pastoral work will be a great inspiration to our students. She is a very welcome addition to our Faculty of Theology and to Saint Paul University,” shared Dr. Michel Andraos, Dean of the Faculty of Theology at Saint Paul University.

“I am happy to be joining the Faculty of Theology here at Saint Paul University,” said Dr. Johnson. “It is exciting to be part of an interdisciplinary and ecumenical community that is committed to the liturgical life of the church as well as to engaging pressing contemporary social questions in Canada.”

Dr. Johnson’s previous experience includes teaching positions at the University of Notre Dame, St. Mark’s College at the University of British Colombia, and Vancouver School of Theology.

In addition to her professional experience, Dr. Johnson holds a PhD in Theology from the University of Notre Dame, an MAR in Liturgical Studies from Yale Divinity School, an MTS from the University of Waterloo/Conrad Grebel University College, and a B.A. from the University of Waterloo/St. Jerome’s University.
