SPU Rector Appointed to New International Working Group to Develop University for Migrants and Refugees
OTTAWA, Tuesday, October 18, 2022 — Saint Paul University Rector, Chantal Beauvais, has been appointed to a new international working group that strives to create a university that serves the needs migrants and refugees.
At the end of September 2022, Dr. Beauvais attended the Initiatives in Refugee and Migrant Education conference in Rome. The event was organized by Refugee & Migrant Education Network, or which Saint Paul University is a member. During the conference, participants discussed opportunities to make education more accessible and welcoming to young migrants and refugees.
The conference culminated with an address by Pope Francis and the announcement of the new working group.
“It is an honour to be appointed to this new project,” said Dr. Beauvais. “As an educator, I know the importance of creating a safe and welcoming education environment, especially for those who are in more vulnerable positions. I am proud to contribute to this important initiative.”
