Spring-Break bootcamp: Organizing for Climate Justice

INS 3120: Spring-Break bootcamp: Organizing for Climate Justice

Dates: Monday, March 16 – Saturday, March 21

It’s no longer possible to ignore the deep and far-reaching impacts climate change is having. The question is, what are we going to do about it?

Around the world, and from coast to coast to coast, youth have been leading the charge to fight for a better future and demand action from governments, corporations, and society as a whole. From proponents for a Green New Deal, Greta Thunberg and the Fridays for our Future movement, to Extinction Rebellion and Indigenous land defenders, diverse movements are working to build a more just and equitable future.

Want to join them?

This course invites youth who want to make a difference in their communities to an immersive six-day experience where together, we will tackle the issues of climate justice and learn practical skills to become more resilient and engaged citizens.

Whether you’re interested and curious, or passionately committed, this course will help you understand the actors, systems and structures behind climate change and provide you with the opportunity to build practical skills and capacities to address climate change and fight for climate justice.

Over the 6 jam-packed days, students will

  • Critically analyze the ideas and debates surrounding climate change and climate justice
  • Build practical skills in citizen science, DIY and community organizing
  • Work in teams to solve pressing challenges facing our communities

Open to students who are currently enrolled in, or have completed, secondary school or CEGEP.

This course may be taken for university credit or as a general-interest course (auditing).

The deadline to apply is Friday, February 28, 2020

Space is limited, so sign up early!
