Snack and Chat: Child poverty and poverty reduction

Children living in poverty are often malnourished, do not get proper education, lack safe drinking water and do not have access to essential vaccines. They are more vulnerable to exploitation, abuse, violence, discrimination and stigmatization.

Today, there are 1 billion children worldwide living in poverty; according to UNICEF, 22,000 children die each day from poverty. In Canada, nearly five million people – one out of every seven individuals – currently live in poverty

This reality must change. That is why we invite you to join us on February 7 for a lunch-time dialogue session where Kathy Vandergrift will address the effects of poverty on children, as well as the current discussion to implement a strategy to eradicate poverty in Canada.

When: February 7 from 12 to 1:20 p.m.

Where: G103

Coffee and water will be provided, but you should bring your own lunch.
