Scholarship holders of the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP)

Two scholarship recipients from the Dominican Republic at Saint Paul University
Saint Paul University is proud to present scholarships offered by Global Affairs Canada to Camila Melannea Martinez Contreras and Onelfi Joanny Poueriet Fernandez, who are both students in social communication.
Valued at $7,200 each, these scholarships are granted as part of the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP). Since 2009, the Government of Canada has funded the ELAP to encourage the emergence of a new generation of leaders in the Americas. How? By allowing students from Latin America and the Caribbean to come to Canada for a short time to study or do research at the college, undergraduate and graduate levels.
“Before coming here, I had a very specific plan for my life. But now that I am in Canada, I am rethinking everything …. The people at Saint Paul are so friendly, open and easy-going,” Camila says.
“Because there are many people from different cultures in my classes,” Onelfi notes, “my experience here is incredibly rich. And I have excellent profs.”
The university community wishes both recipients a wonderful stay in Canada and much success in their studies.
