Saint Paul University Partners with the Embassy of Peru to Host Annual Peruvian Film Festival

OTTAWA, Wednesday, November 3, 2021 – Ottawa’s film buffs are invited to explore the cinema of Peru at the Annual Peruvian Film Festival, which launches on Thursday, November 4.

Co-hosted by Saint Paul University (SPU) and the Embassy of Peru in Ottawa, the festival will be screening three films by Peruvian filmmakers. The featured films explore a number of genres – including a thriller, a drama and a music documentary.

This festival is part of a larger partnership between SPU and the Government of Peru. Over the past few years, the University has been building relationships with post-secondary institutions across Peru to develop cutting-edge programs in social innovation and indigenous leadership.

“We are pleased to partner with the Embassy of Peru to host this film festival,” said Chantal Beauvais, Rector of Saint Paul University. “It is a great opportunity to showcase great films, to promote cultural exchange and to build a stronger foundation for our future projects.”

“We are pleased to have forged a partnership with Saint Paul University and to share the richness and cultural diversity of Peru with students and the general public through the screening of these films,” said Roberto Rodríguez Arnillas, Ambassador of Peru to Canada.

The festival will open with a screening of The Light on the Hill.

The festival schedule is as follows:

Each film will be screened with English subtitles.
