Saint Paul University and Collège Boréal Expand Partnership with New Lease Agreement
OTTAWA, Friday, March 24, 2023 — This morning, representatives of Saint Paul University and Collège Boréal signed a new ten-year lease agreement that builds on the institutions’ existing partnerships, which aims to create more French-language education opportunities in Ontario.
Since 2019, Collège Boréal has rented facilities on SPU’s campus to offer their French-language Veterinary Care Technician and Public Administration college diploma programs to students in the National Capital Region.
As part of the new agreement, classrooms, labs and office space on the first floor of Laframboise Hall will be renovated to accommodate Collège Boréal students and programs. It is anticipated that the new space will be open to welcome students for the 2023-2024 academic year.
“Today, Collège Boréal is pleased to continue its more than 20 years of effort in Ottawa to expand the offer of French post-secondary programs,” said Daniel Giroux, President of Collège Boréal. “Our College’s move to its new premises in the heart of Saint Paul University represents a unique opportunity to strengthen a very fruitful collaboration with one of the pillars of Canada's university heritage.”
In addition to sharing the Saint Paul University campus, the two institutions offer more than 30 transfer agreements between their various programs. These transfer agreements provide Collège Boréal students with the opportunity to apply their college credits toward a bachelor’s degree at Saint Paul University.
“We are happy to continue our collaboration with Collège Boréal as we share the same goal of making French-language post secondary education more accessible in Ontario,” said Chantal Beauvais, Rector of Saint Paul University. “Together, we are able to provide francophone learners with a variety of education pathways to achieve their academic and professional goals.”
