Pope Francis Appoints SPU Alumnus to Position in the Vatican

The Faculty of Canon Law is proud to share that Pope Francis has appointed Saint Paul University alumnus Dr. William L. Daniel as a referendary of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura. This appointment was announced by the Vatican on June 21, 2021. 

Dr. Daniel obtained his J.C.D. and PhD in canon law from SPU’s Faculty of Canon Law in 2015.

Dr. Daniel is currently an assistant professor of canon law at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., where he has taught since 2015. He has published numerous articles in the area of canonical procedural law and is the editor and translator of Ministerium Iustitiae: Jurisprudence of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura. His forthcoming book documents and analyzes the contribution of Father Ignacio Gordon, S.J., to the discipline of canonical procedural law.

Dr. Daniel and his wife have been married seventeen years and are blessed with seven children.
