STUDENT SERVICES

SPU offers a wide range of student services to make your life on campus easier and more enjoyable.

ACADEMIC ADVISOR

Throughout the year, you can meet with an academic advisor to assist you with course selection, academic programs and regulations. You can make an appointment through email:

CAFÉ URBAN

Café Urban serves an appetizing array of fresh, locally sourced, homemade fare for every meal of the day. It’s a refreshing change from traditional cafeteria food! Café Urban is located in Guigues Hall, Level 0.

CENTRE FOR CONTEXTUAL LEARNING

Are you interested in complementing what you’ve learned in your study program with practical work experience? Working in association with the Schools and Faculties, the Centre for Contextual Learning promotes the practical application of study programs by allowing students to participate in supervised internships related to their academic studies. Room G‑240

COMPUTER AND DISTANCE EDUCATION SERVICES (CDES)

CDES takes care of classroom technologies, servers, computer workstations and labs, telephone services, cabled and wireless networks, and audiovisual services and equipment. The CDES team offers flexible training for students registered in distance education courses, webinars and Open Learning lectures. Room G‑020

COUNSELLING SERVICES

The Counselling Service offers support in coping with issues affecting your life: dealing with relationships, family, finances, school or other situations causing emotional difficulties. Room L-362

FINANCIAL SERVICES

The core mission of the Client Accounts section of Financial Services is the collection of tuition fees and the management of student accounts.

To meet in person with a Financial Services staff member, go to Room 172, Guigues Hall. Our specialists are also available by phone (613-236-1393 ext. 2295 or 2512) and email (finance@ustpaul.ca). For more information, please consult the University Fees and Regulations web page.

The Library’s resources, study rooms and services can help you excel in your studies. The building houses an impressive collection of print and digital materials and an exceptional collection of rare books.

PASTORAL SERVICES

Welcoming, serving, and celebrating: these are the core values that build our foundation here on campus. Feeling overwhelmed or overjoyed? The Oasis is a friendly space where you can share your thoughts with other students, volunteers, faculty and staff. Pastoral Services also offers liturgical celebrations. Level 0

RESIDENCE

The Saint Paul University Residence is located on campus, close to downtown. Each fully furnished suite includes high-speed Internet, TV with cable, and telephone with voice mail (free local calls). The residence also offers laundry, kitchen & BBQ facilities, picnic tables and a movie room.

SAINT PAUL UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION (SPUSA)

SPUSA is an independent organization actively involved in many areas of student life. It’s the place to go for, among other things, international student ID cards, travel discount cards, access to the University of Ottawa Foot Patrol (safe walk service) and food bank, a recreation room, ping pong and pool tables, and health insurance offered by the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa (SFUO). Level 0

SHARED SERVICES WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA

To facilitate travel between the University of Ottawa and Saint Paul University, a regular shuttle service operates between the two universities during the fall and winter sessions. The shuttle schedule is available at the University reception desk. It’s free on presentation of your student card.

SPU students also have access to UO’s library and health services, and can use UO’s athletic facilities and join its sports teams.

STUDENT ACADEMIC SUCCESS SERVICE (SASS)

SPU offers a free writing assistance service throughout the academic year to help you achieve academic success. The counselling service is also free. Rooms G‑040/G‑042

U-PASS

The U-Pass is a Universal Transit Pass for full-time students. For more information, click here.
