New Theology Courses Invite the Public to Explore Current Issues

This spring, the Faculty of Theology is launching two new courses to address current issues: Church & Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, and COVID-19: dialogue avec l’expérience humaine (offered in French only).

“With these new courses, we are inviting participants to explore how theology contributes to personal and ecclesial transformation, as well as to social engagement,” explains Michel Andraos, Dean of the Faculty of Theology.

Members of the public who are interested in these courses are invited to participate as a special student (with units) or as an auditor (without units).

THO 3149/THO 6302 – Church & Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples

This condensed, online course is offered this summer from June 7 to 12. Throughout the week-long course, participants will explore the historical background and current state of the reconciliation process in various ecclesial and social contexts.

Lead by Professors Michel Andraos and Peter Bisson SJ, this course will also feature more than 15 Indigenous and non-Indigenous speakers. The speakers will focus their presentations on identifying the present pastoral and theological questions, challenges and the progress made since the final report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and its Calls to Action.
The course is offered at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

THO 3549 – COVID-19: dialogue avec l’expérience humaine

In this course, professor Jean-François Gosselin will guide students through an interdisciplinary exploration of the human experience during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the lens of spirituality, history and philosophy, participants will discuss relevant human experiences such as solitude, mortality and questions of purpose.

Offered May 3 to June 12, this French-language course is delivered entirely online on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
