New DEC-BAC Option for Graduates of Kiuna Institution’s First Nations Social Science Program
Odanak, Tuesday, September 15, 2020 – Through a partnership between Kiuna Institution, the only First Nations college in Quebec, and Saint Paul University, located in Ottawa, graduates of the college’s First Nations Social Science (300.B0) program will have the opportunity to obtain a Honours Bachelor of Arts in Social Innovation from Saint Paul University.
Credit transfer will enable students to obtain a diploma of college studies and a bachelor’s degree in just four years.
By joining forces, Kiuna and Saint Paul University are committed to fostering excellence in education, providing hands-on learning opportunities, increasing access to post-secondary programs in French and English, and ensuring academic mobility between our institutions.
“This partnership is in keeping with our mission to encourage leadership and perseverance among our students and reflects our commitment to maintain quality educational services that take into account their aspirations, realities and cultures,” said Prudence Hannis, Director, Kiuna Institution.
“We are very excited to be partnering with Kiuna on this new credit transfer agreement,” said Chantal Beauvais, Rector, Saint Paul University. “This partnership marks an important milestone as our institutions work together to support Indigenous students in their academic pursuits and future aspirations.”
Both institutions will celebrate this new partnership later this year at the opening of Saint Paul University’s new Indigenous student centre.
