Happy Birthday to all Franco-Ontarians
As the song Notre place by Paul Demers says so well, "We must rise up, we must celebrate!" With more than 600,000 members, Francophones can trace their history in Ontario back 400 years. Saint Paul University has been part of it since 1848.
Since 1975, Franco-Ontarians have been raising the green and white flag every September 25, and in 2010 the provincial government recognized this symbolism by declaring it Franco-Ontarians Day. Today, I join all Ontarians in paying tribute to the contribution of Francophones in Ontario to the academic, social, economic and political life of our province.
