Evening Presentation: Experiencing God in Art: From the Roman Catacombs to Kanye West

November 27, 2019

7:00 – 8:00 p.m. EST

A recording of this presentation is available here.

Within the Christian tradition, sacred scripture has been the primary source of God's revelation. But what about the art we experience in our daily lives? Does God self-reveal in paintings, architecture and sculptures, and maybe even graffiti and rap videos? This presentation will explore these questions and attempt to situate the intersection of God's presence in various forms of art and our experience of them.

Susan Gray is a part-time professor in the Faculty of Theology whose research interests and publications focus on Christian feminist theologies and the work of Bernard Lonergan. Having completed doctoral studies at Saint Paul University in 2017, she recently undertook a post-doctoral fellowship at the Lonergan Institute at Boston College. Other research interests include the phenomenology of religious experience and music as theology.
