A recording of this presentation is available here.
Athletes are exposed to a multitude of pressures and social narratives which can be detrimental to the development of their humanity. Through the lens of St. Thomas Aquinas (focusing on questions 161 & 162 of his Summa Theologica [IIa IIae] concerning humility and pride), this talk addresses how theology can help athletes to pursue excellence “in an excellent manner.”
Kyle Ferguson is a graduate student at Dominican University College in Ottawa who is pursuing an M.A and a Licenciate in Theology. His M.A. thesis brings the experience and aspirations of the modern athlete into conversation with theology.
