Dorothy Day: Lessons for Transforming Our World

Dorothy Day left her mark on our society through her work and her writing. Her valiant defence of social justice as part of the Catholic Worker movement and her hospitability to those in need continue to inspire us today. With this event, the Providence School of Transformative Leadership and Spirituality aims to explore lessons we can learn from Dorothy Day’s integrative approach to social justice as practitioners, academics and community members.

The first session organized for this event will be a panel discussion with guests Darlene O’Leary, Policy Analyst at Citizens for Public Justice; Genevieve Gallant, Director, Public Awareness and Engagement at Development and Peace – Caritas Canada; and Lauren M. Levesque, Assistant Professor with the Providence School of Transformative Leadership and Spirituality.

In the evening we will be joined by Kate Hennessy, author of Dorothy Day: The World Will Be Saved by Beauty – An Intimate Portrait of My Grandmother. Hennessy will invite those attending into a deeper understanding of her grandmother: a complex, dynamic and intensely loving woman, mother and activist.
