Canon Law Webinar: The Penal Process (Judicial and Extra-judicial)

March 18, 2020

2:00 – 3:00 p.m. EST

Rev. Valère Nkouaya Mbandji, SJ

A recording of this webinar is now available here.

Following the decree of closure of the preliminary investigation, the Ordinary must decide if a trial can be committed to inflict or declare a sentence in accordance with Canon 1718, §1, 1 °. If he decides to open the penal trial, he will have to choose between a judicial process and an extrajudicial decree (Canon 1718, §1, 3 °). Starting from a tangible example invented for the needs of the cause, this webinar will highlight the different steps to be followed in a criminal trial, both extrajudicial (Canon 1720) and judicial (Canon 1721).
