The Chapel of Saints Joachim and Anne - (Catholic Byzantine Rite)
The Chapel of Saints Joachim and Anne is located on the second floor of the Laframboise Hall and is at the heart of the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Institute of Eastern Christian Studies.
Prayer is one of the Institute’s primary commitments. In the interest of integrating academic study and worship of the Triune God, the Institute offers a variety of liturgical services on a regular basis. These services are celebrated primarily in English and French. However Ukrainian and Greek, along with other liturgical and vernacular languages, are also used.
The chapel is renowned for the worship of the Byzantine-Constantinopolitan tradition, which is common to Eastern Orthodox and Greek Catholic Churches. As part of the Institute’s commitment to ecumenical understanding, specifically between Eastern and Western Christians, the Institute encourages everyone to participate in worship at the chapel.
Indeed, all staff, students and members of the local community are made to feel most welcome. Thus, whether you are an Eastern Christian or someone simply interested in exploring the Christian East, please feel free to drop by the Institute.
