Relationships Matter presents : Mental health and Families

Mental Health in Families: Dealing with Bipolar, Depression & Schizoaffective Disorder: Awareness, Support, Healing.

Those with mental health struggles, as well as their families, cope with stigma, loneliness and a sense of alienation. Families ask how to lend support. This presentation features a panel of adults and the parents, each drawing from their own personal experience with mental health. A university student will share of his own journey with Bipolar Disorder. His father will speak of his supportive role as advocate. One parent of a son with Schizoaffective Disorder will address the effects on the family, the stigma reality, coping strategies, and healing. One has a family member with Bipolar. A nurse in the field of mental health brings expertise in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and the role of mindfulness in the recovery process.

This panel of Deborah Moore, Graham Campbell, and Helen Francis strive towards bringing awareness, healing, and support to persons and families with mental illness.
