2013 Lonergan Lecture: Objective and Subjective Truth in Revelation

2013 Lonergan Lecture

S. McEvenue
Objective and Subjective Truth in Revelation
Dr. Sean McEvenue, Professor Emeritus, Concordia, Montréal

Fewer and fewer people consider the Old Testament a guiding document for life. We expect objective truth, but scholarship provides disputed facts and ingenious speculations. This lecture explores scriptural texts for feelings as responses to religious values. Our feelings are both affective and intelligent. Scriptural texts, read prayerfully, evoke strong feelings about God’s involvement and guidance in life.

A wine and cheese reception will follow the lecture.
