Saint Paul University and La Cité collégiale sign a new agreement
Tomorrow, Saint Paul University and La Cité collégiale will sign a new agreement which will promote greater student mobility between the two institutions. In so doing, this agreement will allow students to obtain a college diploma and a bachelor’s degree more rapidly with the same quality of learning.
In concrete terms, a student could obtain two diplomas within five years and in certain cases within four years, in particular with the recognition of mutually acceptable credits, as well as a better layout of programs developed complementarily.
Under the terms of this new agreement, Saint Paul University will recognize the educational equivalency of La Cité collégiale’s graduates in journalism, advertising, broadcasting, public relations, specialized learning techniques, rehabilitation techniques and criminal justice, social work techniques, social work techniques in gerontology, recreation services and police services techniques, towards its social communications, ethics, conflict management and group intervention and leadership programs.
Furthermore, Saint Paul University’s students studying towards a specialized Bachelor of Arts with a major in social communications will benefit from equivalencies applicable to the college studies’ diploma in journalism and public relations at La Cité collégiale.
"Saint Paul University is proud of its partnership success with La Cité collégiale who offers its francophone students the possibility to pursue their post-secondary studies, while allowing them to obtain two distinct diplomas", says Chantal Beauvais, Rector, Saint Paul University.
"This new agreement facilitates student mobility. It offers many benefits to graduates of La Cité collégiale, as they will be in a better position to satisfy the demands of the labour market which is always looking for a bilingual workforce with state of the art knowledge and expertise", states Lise Bourgeois, President of La Cité collégiale.
Saint Paul University is the founding college of the University of Ottawa (1848), with whom it has kept an institutional relationship since 1965. Bilingual, on a humanitarian scale and in a context of simplicity, it offers programs on social communications, counseling and spirituality, Canon Law, public ethics, conflict study, group intervention and leadership, philosophy, human relations and theology.
La Cité collégiale is the largest college of applied arts and French language technology in Ontario. More than 90 post-secondary programs are offered at La Cité collégiale in 2012-2013, of which 60 are not offered anywhere else in French in Ontario.
