Description: This workshop will look at images of late adulthood, the Celtic understanding of old age as the winter of life, growth and development stages of old age, and some guideposts for the journey. This is an important time for reflection, an opportunity that often does not come until later years, It is invaluable in seeing how challenges and successes in both the past and present can contribute to well being in latter stages of life and there will be an opportunity to look at ways of doing this. The workshop will also look at the faith of both Biblical and modern figures who have aged in grace-filled ways and how they can become role models for older people in the 21st century. Coping with change and loss, the role of older generations as the keepers of wisdom and family history and supporting adult children and grandchildren, all in light of cultural changes, will be explored. |
