Singing the World in Your Congregation

Since earliest times, pilgrims sing songs. Songs of pilgrimage are not meant to stand on their own. They are to get people walking. They set the pace, they energize tired muscles, and they remind pilgrims why they set off in the first place.

In this workshop you will be introduced to an exciting new worship resource from the World Council of Churches: Hosanna! Ecumenical Songs for Justice and Peace. You will be invited to walk, move, dance and sing songs of pilgrimage. Expect to return home with practical and workable ideas for teaching and using these songs in your community.

Leader: Andrew Donaldson has just finished a five-year posting as Worship Consultant to the World Council of Churches in Geneva, Switzerland. He has songs and hymns in many collections in North America and Europe. Andrew has led worship and has given workshops in many parts of the world, including Korea, Hungary and Scotland. He was co-editor of The Book of Praise for the Presbyterian Church in Canada, is a past-president of the Hymn Society in the US and Canada, and in 2007 received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Knox College, University of Toronto, for his work in congregational song. Andrew and his wife, Wendy, have just returned to their home in Toronto, and continue to work teaching and animating congregational song.

There is ample parking at Saint Paul University. It is served by OC Transpo routes 5 and 16.
