Conference: Call for Papers
The Society for Pastoral Counselling Research (SPCR) invites submissions for its 17th annual conference, which will be held on May 4, 2012, at Saint Paul University, Ottawa, Ontario. The theme of this SPCR conference is:
Return to Wholeness:
Body – Mind – Soul Connection in Spiritual Care and Counselling
Papers are invited that address theoretical, practical and research aspects of wholeness. The program will consist of individual papers and a keynote address. The keynote address, to be given by Rev. Dr. Douglas Longstaffe, Canadian Association for Spiritual Care Teaching Supervisor, will present the conference theme from the perspective of theory, practice and research. The individual presentations are expected to present the theme with reference to specific aspects of wholeness and spirituality. The papers should be scholarly and written in a style that is accessible for researchers, professionals and self-help readers; papers should speak to the professional and client users.
SPCR is an unaffiliated and a registered charitable organization devoted to advancing the practice of Pastoral Care and Counselling. The Society responds to the need for a forum wherein spiritual practitioners may share and exchange experiences and ideas emerging from their work. The goal of these exchanges is to support the development of theoretical models and treatment approaches specific to the pastoral counselling profession. SPCR is for professionals and advanced students who, in their practice, value and address all of a person's experiences, including the biological, psychological, social, interpersonal and spiritual. A major goal of SPCR is to provide a setting for dialogue and discussion among all conference members.
