Description: The film medium is a rich source of popular theological reflection. Filmmakers face few restrictions on their exploration of profound religious and spiritual themes. Presenting their musings in a compelling narrative form, filmmakers are, for better or worse, shaping the theological thinking of our culture. How can academic and ecclesial theology engage with such persuasive presentations? This session will delve into the world of film, describing how the movies shape our understanding of the great themes of theology and suggesting how we can have a place in these conversations as theology goes to the movies.
