Société 1848 Society
Bequests and other planned gifts are so very important to Saint Paul University that the Alumni and Development Office has established the Société 1848 Society.
The Société 1848 Society is designed to recognize and honour those who have made provisions for a future gift through a bequest, gift of life insurance, annuity, or other trust arrangements.
Why 1848? It marks the year in which Bishop Joseph-Eugène-Bruno Guigues, O.M.I., founded the College of Bytown and entrusted its direction to the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. Today, over 150 years later, the present-day Université Saint-Paul / Saint Paul University is above all an institution of higher learning. It is a Catholic university that
- is Catholic, canonically established by the Holy See, endowed with a civil charter and entrusted for over a century and a half to the Oblates of Mary Immaculate; it has been federated with the University of Ottawa since 1965;
- has an ecumenical and interreligious orientation;
- is bilingual and multicultural;
- seeks to serve Church and society; and
- has a special commitment to fostering social justice.
In the last couple of years, we have seen a tremendous increase in the number of bequests realized and indicated. These gifts and future gifts are building the legacy that will be Saint Paul University for years to come.
Members of the Société 1848 Society will be invited as our guests to an annual recognition event and receive a certificate of membership and memento.
If you have already arranged for a future gift, we would like to know about it. If not, we invite you to consider a bequest or other future gift provision.
Your support now is an investment in the future of Saint Paul University and an investment in a legacy of wisdom. We need your help and look forward to expressing our gratitude through the
Société 1848 Society.
