Information on public performance film presentation licence
Saint Paul University has a public performance film presentation site license that allows for the presentation of films from the studios represented by Audio Ciné Films Inc and Criterion Pictures in Canada without infringing upon the Canadian Copyright Act as long as the movie is shown for educational purposes within the context of a course (not to the general public).
This means that any movie that you legally own, or any movie you rent from a video store, can be shown in class as long as the film is found on the list at the ACF or Criterion websites.
IMPORTANT: You are required by law to ensure that you have the appropriate permissions in writing to show ANY visual presentation in class, no matter what the type of media or the source of the media.
You are invited to make good use of this opportunity. However, you should know that the University is required to submit a monthly report with the titles and studios of all the movies presented, and in what context. It is important that you submit to us a list of these presentations in a timely manner by using our online request form, by INTRA mail, or in person at room GIG 23. This will help us to comply with the license requirements.
If your movie is not listed on the ACF or Criterion websites, please contact us to see if other arrangements are possible.
